This metallic glass print captures a lone Eastern Yellow Robin resting on a strand of barbed wire, suspended against a soft green field. The generous negative space around the bird draws the eye to the tiny subject, letting the delicate yellow and grey plumage glow with a clean, modern calm.
I took this image on a quiet, cool morning at Broken River near Eungella National Park in Queensland, an area famed for rich birdlife, with more than 200 bird species recorded. The Robin was unbothered by my presence and simply let me photograph it, a small moment of stillness in a wide, lush space.
What I love most about this metallic glass print is the contrast between nature and the barbed wire, the way the perched bird anchors the composition while the space around it breathes, and the quiet, unhurried mood it holds. On metallic glass, the fine feather detail and soft background take on a luminous depth that suits the subject’s gentle pause.
