Photographed near Broken River in Eungella National Park during September, when the bottlebrush are thick with bloom, this tiny honeyeater is a master of aerial acrobatics, barely 10 to 12 centimetres long. It sips with a brush-tipped tongue, follows flowering trees through the seasons, and prefers high-energy nectar, often dusting its face with pollen as it feeds.
